Host young people on an insight day

When young people have four or more positive encounters with employers they are 86% less likely to end up unemployed. Host a group of our school leavers in your business for a day or half day.

We’ll work with you to plan and develop a session that inspires young people, ideally including opportunities for them to engage with your early career talent, learn about your business model and gain some practical skills such as networking and/or interview practice.

Offer paid work experience

Providing paid work experience (Living Wage) for our school leavers is a game changer.  Short term work experience opportunities serve as a practical route to social mobility and provide a critical stepping stone for school leavers seeking apprenticeships and employment.

We can manage payroll, support you with recruitment and selection and help you plan rewarding work experience opportunities.

Coach or mentor one of our school leavers

Being a coach or mentor to a young person is a hugely rewarding experience. Join our small team of existing mentors and help us provide vital 121 support for school leavers as they transition from school to employment.

By sharing your expertise and insights, you’ll help young people build essential digital skills, overcome employment barriers, and gain the confidence needed to thrive in a tech-driven world.

It’s not all one way, we know mentoring helps refresh perspectives and fosters personal growth.

Supporting apprentices

We work alongside apprenticeship providers and employers adding value to diverse and under-represented talent pipelines. Our tailored support to support apprenticeships works to break down barriers to achievement. We’re on hand to make sure school leavers feel confident and ready to achieve.

We know overall apprenticeship achievements rates are c.52%, the government target is 67% - our tailored support ensures that young people not only access apprenticeships but also thrive within them.

Through one-to-one guidance, family involvement, and ongoing mentorship, we help apprentices stay engaged, overcome challenges, and successfully complete their programmes.

"Working with Day One, I loved the experience of helping young students and teaching them skills to unlock a rewarding career in technology. Being part of the 8-week project to share industry approaches with Year 13s from diverse backgrounds and support their professional development has been truly fulfilling."
